In 2011 a descendant of Cornelis Herrington took a y-DNA test, and their results
did not match that of Bartholomew Herrington, or any other Herrington. Their lineage
was:
Cornelius Herrington
    o Jacob Herrington: b. ? d. 1754 York Co., PA
	o Jacob Herrington: b. Aug. 20, 1730 d. 1770 York Co., PA
	    o James Herrington: b. March 20, 1763 d. ?
		o James Clayton Herrington, Sr.: b. May 8, 1798 d. March 25, 1839
		    o James Clayton Herrington, Jr.: b. June 6, 1824 d. July 7, 1890
			o Benton Herrington: b. Jan. 10, 1854 d. Feb. 1, 1923
			    o son
o H-071 in the Harrington DNA Project

They were, though, a 35/37 match with one member of CRESAP family (kit 99863), and a 36/37 match
with another (kit 155720) in the Cresap DNA Project.

The above descendant is an exact match for the modal of the those three results. Thomas CRESAP
was married to a Hannah JOHNSON on 30 April 1727 in Baltimore Co., MD, while another Hannah
JOHNSON was married to Jacob HERRINGTON on 26 October 1720 at the same church. The relation
between the two Hannahs is not known. In addition to attending the same church in Baltimore,
Thomas CRESAP and Jacob HERRINGTON lived one and a quarter miles apart in York Co., PA.26
In 1733 they are mentioned playing cards together.27

In 2014, 37 marker y-DNA results from another descendant of Cornelius became available. They
are H-107 in the project, and descended from a different son of Cornelius's son Jacob [see
below]. A test in 2018 from a descedant of Bartholomew's son Isaac matched the Lineage I
modal exactly at 37 markers. That shows that the one mutation of H-066 is somewhere in that
lineage from John. That the modal for Bartholomew's descendants is only one marker different
from that of Cornelius, it supports that the two lines are closely relateed.

Descendants of Cornelius lived in York County, PA, which was formed in 1749 from Lancaster County,
which by tradition is where Bartholomew was born. What is known of the family of Cornelius follows.
He had three known marriages.

The earliest record found to date of Cornelius was in 1688 when mentioned in the
account of Bazil Warren in Calvert County, MD.21 On 6 Apr. 1695 he had 50 acres,
Sinecor Ridge surveyed between the Gunpowder and Bush Rivers.

Some researchers list this Abraham as the son of Isaac on the assumption that the parents were listed incorrectly in record 3, his lack of being named in the estate of Jacob in #4, and the fact that Mary and Abraham were listed as born a little over 4 months apart. As the marriage of Jacob, and births of Hannah, Mary, and Abraham were all apparently recorded at the same time, it is this author's belief that it is more likely that the clerk wrote the year of birth for Mary incorrectly, and that she was born in 1724 rather 1725, which would place her birth almost half way between that of Hannah and Abraham. Under PA law at the time Jacob died, the eldest son was entitled to a double portion, proving that Abraham had died before the distribution in 1757. 6. Some researchers list that it was Isaac (born 1705) who married Jane and who died in Chanceford Township, with a son Abraham (that they believed was the one born 1726). As Isaac had children born as late as about 1765, it is more likely that it was Isaac born in 1727, and that it was his son Abraham (born say 1750) who both took over the administration, and asked that guardians be appointed for the minor chidren.
