1. Donald T. Applegate, "Applegate Family History", pp. 1538-1539, FHL Microfilm 973. 13 Nov. 1909 letter from Co. H, National Military Home, KS by unnamed author to Mrs. R. L. Miller of Corydon, Ind. The letter appears to have been written by Robert Long (born 1841) who was the son of Samuel Long and Mary Ann Current, and grandson of Samuel Current and Mary Applegate. He was listed in the National Soldier's Home in Leavenworth, Kansas in the 1910 census. He stated (in part): "Garrett had six daughters and two sons, Derrick I think, and the other son remained in Pennsylvania. The daughters, Mary Current, wife of Samuel Current, my grandmother, Mrs. William Pangburn died in Clark Co., Ind., Mrs. Amy died in Washington twp. Her husband was justice of the peace for many years. Hannah wife of Isaiah Applegate, they were first cousins; Mrs.Cruikahm who died in Pennsylvania and Aunt Anna Heth, wife of William Heth, formerly of your town, who was killed in the 'Morgan Raid' in 1863." 2. 1830 Harrison Co., IN, Isaiah Applegate household, p. 99. Hannah would be the age 40-50 female in the household. 1840 Harrison Co., IN, Hannah Applegate household, p. 513. Hannah Applegate age 50-60. 1850 Harrison Co., IN, Hannah Applegate household, p. 910. Hannah Applegate age 73. 1860 Harrison Co., IN, Alfred Applegate household, p. 58. Hannah Applegate age 71. The earlier census suggest a birth of 1780-1790. Her age in 1850 is probably too early, and that in 1860 is too late. Based on the ages of other children of Garrett, she was probably born about 1783. 3.
