In the Name of God Amen I Valentine Wendell of the Parish of belkford in the
County of Dunmore in the Colony of Virginia being weak of body but of perfect
mind & memory Thanks be given to god for the same calling unto mind the
mortality of my body & knowing that It is appointed for all men once To
Die Do make & ordain this my Last will & Testament, That is to say,
Principally & first of all, I give & recommend my soul unto the hand of
almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be
buried in Decent manner at the Discrition of my Executors Nothing Doubting
but at the generall resurrection I shall receive the Same by the mighty
power of god, & as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has Pleased
god To bless me in this Life I give Devise & Dispose of the same in the
following manner & form
That is to Say I order & Devise that all my Personal Debts to be first
Levied out my said moveable Estate & fully paid with all my funeral Expenses.
Also I order & give unto my beloved Son Peter Wendell my New Psalm Book.
Also I give to him one Hundered acres of Land whereon I Now Dwell with the
improvements thereunto belonging (viz. the upper part of my said Tract).
Also I give & bequeath unto my Son John Wendell the Lower part of my said
Tract of Land containing one hundred acres Likewise. Also I order & Desire
that my son Peter shall pay to each of his Sisters there being five in
Number the sum of five Pounds Each when the said John Wendell shall arrive
at the age of twenty one years, if the said Peter Wendell shall Die having
no Issue the Land shall be heired by the said John Wendell & if the said
John Wendell Die without Issue the Land to be heired by the said Peter
Wendell in Like manner. Also I give & bequeath to my son Peter one young
mare & one Cow. Also I Desire & order that my son Peter shall give my son
John one Cow when he arrive at his age, and Likewise I give my son John
one Horse Creature. Also I give unto my beloved Daughters Barbara & Mary
Wendell the sum of Fifty Shillings more than the rest of my Daughters
they being single it being what the rest of them had when they Left me
but if they marry before my Decease & then if they Take the value of it
then they to have only an Equall Share with the rest of them after my
Decease. Also I give my son Peter one Horse Creature. Also I give to my
Daughters Barbara & Mary Wendell one bed Each & one Spinning Wheel Each &
Likewise two Cows Each & two Sheep Each. Also I give to my sons Peter
& John Wendell all the Plowing utinsils with all the Edge Tools with the
Waggon & gears. Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughters being
five in Number all the moveable Effects that is not mentioned above or is
not fast by walls or Nails. I desire that they to have an Equal share
alike but my sons Not to have any share therein. Also I Desire that the
Iron stove may stay in the house.
And lastly I Do constitute make & ordain my beloved Friends Augustin
Wendell & Johan Philip Wendell Executors of this my Last will &
Testament all & singular my Lands & moveable Effects by my above
mentioned Children to be possessed & enjoyed, and Do utterly Disallow,
revoke & Disannul all & every other former Testament, will, Legacie,
bequests & Executors by me in any will before Named, willed & Bequeathed,
ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my Last will & Testament,
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seall this Twenty second
Day of March one Thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy.

At a Court held for the County of Shenandoah on Thursday the 25th day of
October 1792 This Last Will and Testament of Valentine Wendle deceased
was Exhibited unto Court by Philip Wendle the Surviving Executor therein
named and was proved by the Oath of John Wendle a witness thereto and
Ordered to be Certified the said Philip Wendle declining to qualify as
Executor thereof.
At a Court Continued and held for the County of Shenandoah on Wednesday the
11th day of September 1793 This Last Will and Testament of Valentine
Wendel deceased was fully proved by the oath of Samuel Mills a Witness
thereto and Ordered to be Recorded.
