At present, two descendants from Richard TUCKER have y-DNA tested. One is descended through Richard's son Hosea, and then Hosea's son Robert Albert. They have no matches to date with any other Tucker that has tested. They are kit #215798 at TUCKER DNA Results. The second person descended from Richard TUCKER who has y-DNA tested is kit #900808, they being descended through Hosea's son William Nelson TUCKER. As he matches the Tucker MD Group #1, it would suggest that kit 215798 has an NPE somewhere in their lineage. The Tucker Maryland Group #1 is a large group, but only a few members share an 18 on DYS570.

All of those above descended from Levi Tucker of Brown County, Ohio, claim that he is the Levi born 16 Jan. 1774 whose birth was recorded in St. John's or Piscataway Parish, Prince George's Co., MD, daughter [sic] of William & Margery Tucker. That Levi was married on 23 March 1799 in Prince George's Parish, (a/k/a Rock Creek Parish), Montgomery Co., MD, to Susanna Collins. They had children recorded there of 1. Sarah Tucker b. 2 Feb. 1800; bap. 30 Mar. 1800 2. Margaret Tucker b. 26 Jan. 1802; bap. 19 Sep. 1802 There are inconsistencies with that Levi being the same as Levi Tucker of Brown Co., OH. 1. Sarah, daughter of Levi of Brown Co. married John LaFary. In all census, she listed her birth as Ohio, not Maryland. 1850 Ripley Co., IN Sarah LeFerry age 47 born Ohio 1860 Brown Co., IN Sarah Leffrey age 59, born Ohio 1870 Rush Co., IN Sarah Leffrey age 70, born Ohio 2. Levi's wife/widow in all Brown County records is listed as Hannah, not Susannah. Brown Co. Deed Book 9, p. 154 13 Mar. 1831, Levi Tucker and wife Hannah Brown Co. Deed Book 11, p. 249 16 June 1834, Levi Tucker and wife Hannah Hannah Tucker household 1850 Brown Co., Ohio census Rachel Miller household 1860 Brown Co., Ohio census 3. In 1850 Hannah Tucker was next to Rachel Miller and in 1860 was living with her. Rachel Tucker married Charles Miller on 29 January 1829 in Brown County. In 1850 Hanna Tucker sold one half of lot 154 in Fayetteville, Brown County to Rachel Miller for $25. Brown Co., OH, Deed Book 25, p. 163 In 1854 and Hannah Tucker and Rachel Miller jointly sold all of lot 154 for $80. Brown Co., OH, Deed Book 30, p. 391 As Rachel purchased her half at would appear to be a reduce price from what they jointly sold the tract, it would suggest that Rachel was a child of Hannah. Note also that Rachel named a child Hannah, as did Sarah who married John LaFary. None of Levi's children are known to have named a daughter Susannah. Since Rachel was born about 1806, it would suggest that Hannah was married to Levi Tucker no later than 1805. 4. Levi of Brown Co. had a son Joseph, who was born about 1801 in Ohio, whose date and location does not fit with a Levi having children born in 1800 and 1802 in Maryland. 1850 Brown Co., OH Joseph Brown, age 49, born Ohio 1860 Ripley Co., IN Joseph Brown, age 59, born Ohio Thomas TUCKER and Joseph TUCKER of Frederick and Montgomery Cos., MD by their ages are thought to be brothers. Thomas TUCKER had a son Levi TUCKER, born about 1774, who may be a better fit for being the Levi of Brown Co., OH. In Thomas' 1794 household in Hampshire Co. he paid for 3 tithes [white males age 16 and over]. In 1795 Thomas paid for only two tithes, and Levi TUCKER made his first appearance on his known, suggesting he was the third tithe in Thomas' household in 1794 and a son. Thomas TUCKER and Joseph TUCKER purchased adjacent tracts of land in Hampshire Co. on 10 February 1791.53 On Thomas's deed he was stated to be of Montgomery Co., MD. Thomas TUCKER was probably born about 1735 and is alleged to have married a Margaret WHEELER, but no evidence has been found at present as to her given or maiden name. Thomas had a son Thomas W. TUCKER born about 1765 who moved from Hampshire Co. to Sangamon Co., Illinois.54 While his middle name is said to be Wheeler, that has also not been proven. Richard TUCKER's son Hosea named a son Richard Wheeler TUCKER. If Thomas's wife was a Wheeler, and/or his son was named Thomas Wheeler TUCKER, it would add to evidence that Richard was also a son of Thomas. If Thomas was not Richard's father, then he may have been his uncle. In 1790 Montgomery County, Richard TUCKER was living only 15 households from an Elizabeth TUCKER who was 5 households from John HIGGINS, the father-in-law of Richard TUCKER.55 Her identity is not known. Thomas TUCKER had one additional proven son in addtion to Thomas W[heeler?] TUCKER and Levi TUCKER. On 20 September Thomas TUCKER had two separate gifts to his son Josephus TUCKER for love and affection. In the first he conveyed two tracts, one being the 200 acres he purchased on 10 Feb. 1791, and the other being a tract purchased on 15 July 1804.56 In the second gift he gave his son Joesphus all his negroes, livestock, farming utensils, household furniture, etc., and all his personal estate in Virginia or elsewhere.57 To date, no desendants of Thomas Wheeler TUCKER or of Josephus TUCKER are known to have y-DNA tested. If such a person tested and they were also an 18 on DYS570 [the result in purple on the above chart], it would add to evidence that both Levi TUCKER of Brown Co., OH, and Richard TUCKER were sons of Thomas. Help in paying for such a test is available to a qualifying person. Joseph TUCKER on 12 March 1768 in Frederick Co., MD, purchased from Jeremiah PRATHER, Junr., 103 acres, part of the tract Deer Park and Bear Garden Enlarged that was adjacent to Archibald Edmonston.58 He sold it to Absalom Beddo as 97 1/2 acres on 28 Mar. 1788.59 Joseph then moved to Hampshire County, where his son Erasmus TUCKER was listed in 1788 with 2 tithes. In 1789 Joseph TUCKER was first listed, and had two tithes. Taxed on the same date was Archibald LINTHICUM, who was also from Montgomery County. In 1793 John SELBY and Nathan SELBY were first found, they also being from MD. In the 1777 tax list for Montgomery County, names in the Lower Part of Newfoundland Hundred included (with number of tithes) Archibald EDMONSTON 2, David TUCKER, Joseph TUCKER 1, Nicolas WHEALER 1, and William WHEALER 1. In Rock Creek Hundred were William TUCKER 1 and Thomas TUCKER 3.60 How David might be related is unknown. Joseph named a son David, but he was born about 1788. Taking the 1778 Oath of Allegiance in Montgomery County and being on the list of Edward BURGESS were:61 #96 Archibald LINTHYCUM #100 Edward WHEELER #110 John TUCKER #111 David TUCKER #332 Thomas TUCKER #334 William WHEELER #359 Joseph TUCKER Archibald LINTHICUM is for reference in that he also moved to Hampshire County, first appearing in 1789 and taxed on the same date as Joseph TUCKER. Richard TUCKER was born between 17601-1765.2 He was married in Frederick Co., MD, but appeared in the 1790 and 1800 Montgomery Co., MD with 29 and 53 slaves respectively. Both were unusually high numbers, but no record is found of his owning any land. By 1803 he was in Hampshire Co., [West] Virginia.3 Richard was not a son of Joseph, but Richard's son John H. TUCKER married Elizabeth TUCKER, daughter of Joseph.52 Thomas TUCKER was born about 1735 and Joseph Tucker about 1740, and are thought to likely be brothers. Richard TUCKER last appeared in Hampshire County in the 1828 list.4 Richard died between 1833 when he purchased a tract of land5 in Richland Co., OH and 1840.6 In 1845 that tract of land was part of a four mile wide stripthat was changed from Richland to Crawford Co., OH. While only three children were named in his will, there were 10 children who each sold their shares of land (left to his wife Lucy). Deeds of the heirs of Erasmus and heirs of Aaron state they were a "tenth" part. Those ten heirs and deeds in Hampshire County were: Erasmus Tucker heirs [Deed Book 29, pp. 182-183] Bennet Bean and wife Ruth of Hardy Co., VA [Deed Book 23, pp. 1-2] Aaron Tucker, deceased, of Hardy Co., VA [Deed Book 26, pp. 103-104] Joseph Tucker and wife Jane of Hardy Co., VA [Deed Book 23, pp, 241-242] Thomas Tucker of Ohio [Deed Book 24, pp. 277-278] David Tucker of Ohio [Deed Book 24, pp. 277-278] John Tucker and wife Damarius of Athens Co., Ohio [Deed Book 26, pp, 97-98] John [H.] Tucker and wife Elizabeth of Athens Co., Ohio [Deed Book 21:549-550] George Bean and wife Ann of Athens Co., Ohio [Deed Book [Deed Book 26, pp, 97-98] Nathan Tucker, to whom all the others sold their shares. He and wife Mary sold all this in 1837. [Deed Book 32:290-293] Note that both a John Tucker and wife Damarius and John Tucker and wife Elizabeth sold land as residents of Athens Co., OH. In the 1820 Athens Co. census John Tucker and John H. Tucker were listed next to each other. John and wife Damarius continued to live in Athens Co. and were there in the 1850 census. By 1830 John H. Tucker was a daughter of Joseph. 53. Hampshire County, VA, Deed Book 8, pp. 215-219. 10 Feb. 1791 John Deaderick and Geroge Michael Deaderick to Joseph Tucker of Hampshire Co.
