Jacob STRUB of Läufelfingen, Baselland, Switzerland is the earliest 
identified person of this line at this time. He was estimated as born about
1570. He was married to Cordula HÄFELFINGER about 1594, and died in 1597. They had two 
children born at Läufelfingen. Jacob was living at the time of the baptism of his son
Jacob, as he was not listed as born posthumously, but deceased by 26 April 1597 when
Cordula HEFFELFINGER married Fridli GRIEDER.1  Fridli GRIEDER was buried on 2 Feb. 1635.1
His widow Cordula was buried on 2 February 1636.1 No children were found baptized
at Läufelfingen for Fridli and Cordula.

Different pastors were recording information at different times. When
called Jacob Strub the younger, it was because there was an elder Jacob
Strub (born in 1569) living there. When called Fritz's son, it was
apparently because of his step-father Fridli GRIEDER. (Both Fritz and
Fridli are nicknames for Fridrich.) He was then identified by a later
pastor as Jacob's son, his biological father.

The nickname "Fritzen Jacob" continued to be applied his descendants to
identify which line they were from.
His son Heini Strub was married in 1642 as Fritzen Jacob's son
His son Marx was buried in 1645 as Fritzen Jocki's son Marx, no surname listed.
(Jocki/Joggi etc. are nicknames for Jacob.)
His wife Elsbeth Buss was buried in 1661 as Fritzen Jocki's wife, no surname listed.
His son Jacob Strub was buried in 1682 as Fritzen Jocki's son. 

The son Jacob's wife was Elsbeth BUSS. While Elsbeth's name is spelled BUSS and
BUOSS in the baptisms of her children,the name may actually be the modern day
spelling of Buess.

The name BUESS historically held citizenship at seven localities in Baselland,
those being Buus, Gelterkinden, Itingen, Kilchberg, Oltingen, Wenslingen, and
Zeglingen. The marriage of Jacob STRUB and Elsbeth BUSS was not found at any
of those localities, nor at Läufelfingen where the Strub family lived.

Elsbeth BUSS, Fritzin Jocki's wife was buried 4 Apr. 1661, age 67.2

Ulrich STRUB was married to Maria BLUM about 1667, although the marriage
record is not found at Läufelfingen, Baselland, Switzerland where they lived.
