Hans ERB was a pastor at several localities in Canton Bern, Switzerland. He was
probably born about 1525 and was listed as a Helper Pastor at Thun when in 1550
he was transferred to be the pastor at Amsoldingen. He served there until 1561
when he was dismissed for marriage. In 1563 he became the pastor at Reichenbach,
and in 1564 the pastor at Laupen. In 1566 he was at Signau until 1581 when he went
to Thurnen [now Mühlethurnen] where he served until his death in 1601.1

Unfortunatley the extant Amsoldingen parish records do not start until 1661, and 
those for Signau in 1589. No records were found at Richenbach of any children of
his baptized there during his short stay. He and his wife Barblÿ KATZENMEYER had
a child Jost baptized at Laupen on 3 March 1566.2 Jost later appeared as a sponsor
at Mühlethurnen with [his sister] Eva.3

Before his arrival at Thurnen there were no records of any ERB as either a parent
or sponsor. After his arrival in 1581, Eva ERB began appearing in 1582 as a sponsor
numerous times, and is presumed to be his daughter.3 A Barbli ERB was also several
times a sponsor and in one record is identified as the "pastor's wife." Batt ERB had two
children baptized in 1582 and 1584 at Langnau im Emmental which is next to Signau, where
he had spent most of his time as a child. Batt moved to Mühlethurnen where his parents
were by 1585 when he had a child baptized there. In one record Batt was a sponsor with [his
sister] Eva ERB.3

Hans ERB was born about 1525 and he and his wife Barblÿ KATZENMEYER2 had children:
